New York Blood Center Presentation Highlights

On March 23rd, the New York Blood Center presented to 7th grade Health and P.E. classes, as well as members of the Safety Patrol and Early Act Clubs. During the presentation, students learned how blood supports people who are sick or injured and why donations are essential for hospitals and patients in need. The program also explained different blood types and how the donation process works.
Students were encouraged to help spread awareness by recruiting friends, family, and community members to donate at an upcoming blood drive. Students rehearsed how they would promote and recruit people to donate. As an added incentive, the group that recruits the most donors will win an ice cream party! Members of the Early Act Club will be volunteering at the local blood drive on April 28th at the Greenport American Legion.
