Congratulations to our MLK Contest Winners

The Greenport School is thrilled to announce that our talented students have been recognized as winners in the MLK Essay & Multimedia Contest, celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This prestigious contest, organized by the Southold Town Anti-Bias Task Force, encouraged participants to creatively express Dr. King's message of equality, justice, unity, love, and action.

Our students embraced this year's theme, "MISSION POSSIBLE 2: BUILDING COMMUNITY, UNITING A NATION, THE NONVIOLENT WAY," showcasing their creativity through essays, art, video, music, and digital media. Their contributions have played a vital role in promoting a more inclusive community.

Middle school contestants reflected on a quote from Dr. King, articulating how they can foster a more just, inclusive, and peaceful society.

High school students examined how the principles of justice and equity can unite the world, integrating Dr. King's ideals and proposing solutions for peace and equity, while highlighting the roles of young people and adults in driving change.

Our students were selected by judges from the Southold Town Board and Anti-Bias Task Force for their originality and creativity in embodying Dr. King's principles.

Join me in congratulating our students on this remarkable achievement. Their awards were presented at the MLK Celebration on January 18, 2026. Thank you to all who participated and supported this inspiring journey!
