Congratulations to Our Building Bridges Award Recipients!
On April 30th, senior Faith Welch and juniors Amy Priesing and Isabella Sarabia were each honored with the Building Bridges Award presented by the Jewish Community Relations Council of Long Island (JCRC-LI). These are three truly deserving young women whose dedication to service, compassion, and community leadership were awarded at this prestigious event hosted by the Suffolk Jewish Community Center as part of the Suffolk County Holocaust Remembrance Day Commemorations. Their commitment to caring for those around them, promoting empathy, bringing people together, and practicing tolerance embodies the true spirit of the Building Bridges Award. Faith, Amy and Isabella were presented with eight different certificates from various legislatures and executives!
The evening included a full reception with community leaders, as well as county and state legislatures. Dinner was served, and speeches made but the night was made even more meaningful through guest speaker Meir Usherovitz, a Holocaust survivor. At 99, he shared his powerful story of resilience, courage, and hope. He reminded everyone not only of what it means to survive adversity, but to rise beyond it with strength and purpose. Faith, Amy, and Isabella show that Meir Usherovitz’s message will continue to blossom as students like them continue to work to “build the bridges.”
Amazing achievement and recognition to these ladies! You make Greenport Proud!
