GREENPORT DECA CLUB VISITS MANHATTAN FOR CAREER EXPLORATION
Greenport High School DECA Club members visited Manhattan on March 21 as part of a career exploration initiative.
GHS graduate Melissa Kondak hosted the club at 30 Rockefeller Plaza. She talked about her journey to becoming part of the NBCUniversal team and also gave the group a behind-the-scenes tour of NBC Studios.
The students also learned about apparel design, production, marketing and sales at It Figures, a swimsuit company. Swimwear expert Kelly Logsdon of Greenport and other members of the It Figures team explained the various jobs involved with taking a bathing suit from an idea to hanging on a rack in a store.
DECA plans to travel to the Financial District this fall. The field trip will include a history of Wall Street as well as company visits to learn about various jobs in financial industry.
