On Friday, October 28, 2011, four 12th grade students, Kerri Hands, Cassie Shedrick, Miriam Ramirez, and Alexa Suess attended a “Trailblazer & Pathfinders” Breakfast at Peconic Landing.

The Trailblazer & Pathfinders program began 4 years ago through the North Fork Business Advisory to enhance intragenerational education. The students met with residents at Peconic Landing to discuss careers they are interested in pursuing.  The residents are retired from these specific careers and utilized their prior experience to influence the students. The students were accompanied by Brandi Hopkins, chairperson of the North Fork Business Advisory and Lydia Wells, Guidance Chairperson.

The students and residents enjoyed their time together and gained knowledge from each other.  Thank you to Connie Ellis, Pat Lutz and the residents of Peconic Landing.

Rutgers Trophy Remembered with Banner

Rutgers Trophy Remembered

In 1958, the Greenport Football Team was awarded the Rutgers Trophy for being the BEST football team in Suffolk County.  For four entire seasons prior to the award, the Porters football team was undefeated each season.

That historic  team was under the leadership of Coach Dorrie Jackson and it was the first time the Porters have received the prestigious Rutgers Trophy.

Tim Morey noticed that there was no recognition of the trophy in the school gym, so he spearheaded a campaign to have a banner made.  The new banner was presented during the Homecoming Game in October.

The banner now proudly hangs in the school Gym
